SUMMARY
Regression analysis of crime rates by regions of Russia.
The main tasks in this work:
1. Construct a model to explain and predict changes in the coefficient of crime under the influence of given factors of socio-economic development of the region.
2. Apply this model as a tool for explaining the phenomenon.
Findings of the study:
1. At the level of significance P = 0,05 is determined that the crime rate in the region depends on the level of income of the population, life expectancy, the number of children who are studying in schools and the number of readers in libraries.
2. The resulting multiple regression model explains 29.3% of the variation in crime.
3. The resulting multiple regression model lacks explanatory power and can not be used for the practical explanation and prediction of crime
4. This model can be improved by taking into account a greater number of explanatory factors.

Introducing
The study is conducted to construct the model dependence in the crime rate in the region of Russia from the factors of socio-economic development of the region. Resulting model will be used to plan strategies to reduce crime through social and economic mechanisms.
